As the 29er market heats up, the friendly folks of Niner continue to innovate and deliver high-performance and good value bikes to the market. The latest project is a titanium 29er hardtail, the TSL. Niner will seek the public’s help to determine the configurations to produce. Singlespeed, geared, rigid fork, only, EBB are some of the configurations in play. Mtbr will develop some quick polls after the show to collect some opinions in the matter.
The other exciting project is the Niner WFO. The WFO is a long travel bike featuring 6 inches of rear travel. The frame allows huge rear tires yet has short stays. The seat tube is ‘extremely’ sloping. The head tube uses the oversized headset. The frame also features cable routing for an adjustable seatpost.
And finally, here’s the Jet 9. The Kermit Green is coming back as a production color. Production has been delayed since the bushings spec’ed on the prototypes are not living up to Niner’s expectations. In a nutshell, they were producing too much drag and it affected the suspension quality adversely. Niner is going back to bearings to set things right. The frame will be available to the general public by February 2008.
