Martha Van, creator and head cheerleader for Action Wipes, was all over the Interbike Outdoor Demo this year, with a cooler full of iced Action Wipes to help people wipe off the dust and cool down. If you haven’t heard of Action Wipes, they’re like baby wipes for grown ups who like to get dirty. They’re great when you go for a ride and want to clean off the sweat, mud, or poison oak before you get home for a real shower. Grownups shouldn’t smell like a baby, though. Hence the Action Wipes slogan: “Your face is not a baby’s butt, don’t wipe it like one.”
“Action Wipes clean sweaty pores and remove body odor,” and they’re made from, “therapeutic essential oils of tea tree and eucalyptus; combined with other all natural, plant derived ingredients.” They’re bigger and stronger than baby wipes and they can even be washed and reused. I keep them in my car when I’m on the road so I can get the dust and sweat off after mountain bike rides and hikes. And as you can see from the photo below, you can even use them to clean up ride carnage!
Since this was the first year that Action Wipes had a booth at Interbike, they had what is probably the worst location at the whole show – back in a corner on the lower level. Martha Van and her helpers made the best of it, though, giving out pickles to anyone who visited the Action Wipes booth. Why pickles, you ask? No really good explanation could be provided – but everyone needs a gimmick, right? Actually, that might not be the case for Action Wipes. They make a great product that anyone who rides a bike should be able to understand and find a use for.
